Charles Babbage was born in London 1791. His parent were wealthy so he was able to have the best education possible. He attended various private schools with the help of personal tutors throughout and after his schooling. He had an interest in mathematics and would often study it in his own time.

during the time of his life there was a really high error rate in the calculation of maths tables. Babbage wanted to find a new method making the calculation mechanical to remove human error. In 1822 presented something called a difference engine. It was able to calculate polynomials by using a numerical method called the differences method. The machine was never completed with financial difficulties and was abandoned by the government in 1842.

While Babbage was not able to complete the difference engine he was still able to improve on the design cutting down the needed parts to 8000 in second design. He was also able to provide a view into the mechanical aid of mathematics which started developed as technologies were enhanced and grew.
